Mutual Dates
OVERVIEW
Previous to creating Approachable Geek, our founders had created an app for finding cool things to do for date night called Doorstep. In 2020 the founders of a dating app called Mutual (an app featured in both the New York Times and on CNN’s website) decided that our app, Doorstep, would be the perfect match to integrate into their dating app. The challenge with this project was that Doorstep was a hybrid app and Mutual was written natively, which necessitated an 8-month rebuild of the app from the ground up that ultimately turned into MutualDates.

DISCOVERY
To ensure each user is able to discover the perfect date night plan, they are able to browse many different date nights, select what they want and learn more about the experience.

Over 194,000 monthly active users
4.2 rating in the play store
MutualDates partners with many local businesses to offer discounts for date night packages. Users are able to purchase the date night package on the app at a discount, scan their credit card to input information, and then purchase the item.

FEATURES
We made it easy for business owners to sign up and create their own promotions that appear in the Mutual app. With the Partner’s Tool business owners can view transactions as they come in real-time, connect their payment method, and modify/add their own promotions. This makes it easy for owners to clearly see the ROI of each promotion and make changes whenever they’d like.

STORY
Since launch, MutualDates has gone on to sign large regional venues onto the app including Real Salt Lake (a Major League soccer club), BYU Sports (a nationally recognized sports program), large local haunted attractions, and dozens of other restaurants and experiences. They had a launch party with more than 2,000 attendees and have been featured on local radio stations and in newspapers.
